Unbeaten through 3; a step down the right path
The Nolan Catholic Women's Soccer team has beaten the TAPPS defending State Champion and played to a draw to one of the most decorated team in the country, the Ursuline Bears. Let's not forget that Nolan vs Ursuline rivalry, one of the best in the country of any sport.
Last night the Lady Vikings tied the Ursuline Bears 1-1 after a dramatic end to end battle from start to finish. Both teams traded blows during the entire match with Nolan Catholic getting on the board first after a quality blast from 25 out from sophomore, Avery Hutka off an assist from Olivia Tankersley in the 62nd minute.
Ursuline was relentless in getting back in the game as they spent majority of the time after the Lady Viking goal in front of the Lady Vikings goal and it just took 8 minutes for Lady Bear junior, Kylie Dobbs to equalize.
Senior, Defender, Alyssa Spotts On the game...
We feel like our team right now has the same mentality and the same purpose. This was evident in tonight's game as well as last week against Lynch.
Much of the play during the match was spent in the midfield with both teams playing a chess match on how to break down each others stubborn defenses. LVS, head coach, Jay Fitzgerald commented his teams effort on the evening, " We are taking steps down the right path at this moment. We know what we want to do each game and I think that sets us apart from the teams we have had in the past, including the buy in and attention to detail."
There was great support on the evening from other Nolan Catholic teams and athletes as well as LVS alumni, Abbey Button ('18) and Meghan Kittleson ('18) that noticed a new Lady Viking team.
The Lady Vikings have an overall record of 1-0-2 and take on TAPPS 2-6A opponent on Thursday as they host Prestonwood at Doskocil Stadium at 6:15pm.
