Halloween draw spooks the Lady Vikings

The Lady Vikings coming off the heels of their Monday road win, become stagnate against HSAA on Halloween night. The Warriors of HSAA put together a gritty performance that basically turned into a track meet with both teams trading shots throughout.

Laci Earixson scored the first of her 2 goals on the afternoon in the 18 minute of play as she picked up a loose ball around the top of the box and played a well shaped ball around the keeper for the games first goal.

The Lady Vikings started fairly strong creating a slue of opportunities around the box but seemed to get in each others way. LVS head coach, Jay Fitzgerald commented, "We got to where we needed to get too often but some technical decisions hurt us as well as just getting in each other space."

The team performance proved to be enough to end the game with a draw but the individual performance forced the Lady Vikings to chase the game. After going down 2-1 on a free kick that sailed over sophomore, goalkeeper, Alle Steining's head, the Lady Vikings went right down and smacked a ball off the goalkeeper. It wasn't until about 10 minutes to play in the game, that Earixson struck again to even the score.

"We did what we needed to do to get into the box plenty of times but just lost focus too many times. It was disappointing for sure but happy with how we were able to break down a team that worked so hard to defend in the back third," said Fitzgerald.

The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants play on Monday Night Football and so do the 2 teams that have arguably the best high school women's soccer rivalry, Nolan vs Ursuline. They have played in the State Championship more then any other match-up in the country.

The Lady Vikings play their home opener at 7:45pm with the JV kicking off at 6:00pm at Doskocil Stadium.
